The "Community Theatre — a future through art" project was founded and run by five young people with refugee experience who wanted to create a space where children and teenagers could discover their talents, build confidence, and express themselves through theatre.
With organisational and mentoring support from Fundacja Jedność, the youth team independently planned and ran the project, coordinated the educators' work, and organised all events and performances.
Over the year, 30 participants took part in the project across two age groups: 16 young people aged 13 and up, and 14 children aged 9 and up. Over 144 hours of rehearsals and training, they developed skills in acting, public speaking, movement expression and teamwork. Together they created two theatre performances, each shown twice. In total, the project included four public performances attended by 175 people.
But the most important results go far beyond the stage. Participants found their voice, made friends, learned to work together, and gained a better understanding of their strengths and creative potential. The five-person team also proved that young people can turn their ideas into real initiatives and have a positive impact on the local community.
We are proud that Fundacja Jedność was able to give the team the space, mentorship and practical support needed to bring their idea to life.
The project has officially ended, but the relationships, development plans and creative ideas born during its course continue to grow.
